Evaluation Criteria Indicative questions to consider to strengthen the proposal
35% Clarity/ relevance of the project idea
  • Does the project focus on advocating for intercommunal, contemporary issues and interests that are of priority and relate to the youth of today? (15 points)
  • How does the proposed project ensure participation of youth in bi-communal, youth-oriented activities? (10 points)
  • Is it relevant to Youth Power’s mission/vision and objectives? (5 points)
  • Is it clear what you are proposing? Is the project idea applicable? Is it realistic and logistically plausible? Are the objectives of the proposed grant activity/activities clearly formulated? (5 points)
 
  • How does the proposed project ensure participation of youth in bi-communal, youth-oriented activities? (10 points)
  • Is it relevant to Youth Power’s mission/vision and objectives? (5 points)
  • Is it clear what you are proposing? Is the project idea applicable? Is it realistic and logistically plausible? Are the objectives of the proposed grant activity/activities clearly formulated? (5 points)

12.5% Innovation
  • How innovative and unique is the idea proposed in the grant application? Are you aiming change? If so, it is it clearly articulated? (12.5 points)
32.5% Management/ Partnerships/ Potential for replication
  • Is the applicant an individual/non-formal group/NGO with little or no bicommunal experience and limited funding opportunities? (15 points)
  • Has the project established a bicommunal partnership and/or partnership with NGOs in the case of an individual/non-formal group? (12.5 points)
  • Can the proposed project be sustained/ replicated in the future? Does it have the capacity/ability to be linked with the private sector and/or other donors? (5 points)
5% Budget relevance
  • Is the budget realistic? Does it correspond to the project idea? Is it within the budget allocation of Youth Power? (5 points)
15% Outreach capacity
  • Does the project utilize a variety of communications tools, including new media? (10 points)
  • Is the project implemented in areas where bicommunal activity has not been established? (5 points)

 

Budget

  • Youth Power grants may range from €1,000 – €15,000.
  • The budget ought to be completed with a breakdown of costs by activity, including administrative costs.
  • Budget to be prepared in Euros (€).
  • A max of 15% administrative costs may be included in the budget.
  • Applicants should refer to the required budget template that is part of the Grant Application Form.

 

Grant Implementation:

  • A grant agreement will be signed between the Youth Power and the partners for each Small Grant awarded. The final Grant Application Form submitted by the awardee will also be an annex to the agreement. 
  • The Youth Power’s program coordinators and the media consultants will follow the implementation and monitoring process of the grants through their completion.
  • Formal groups: for successful applications, there will be 30% upfront disbursements of the funds, with the signing of the grant agreement. Remaining amount will be paid upon presentation of a final financial and progress report and its approval by the Youth Power. Disbursements will be made against submitted original receipts only, and for items that are in-line with the pre-approved budget items.
  • Non-formal groups: No upfront disbursements will be considered Financial disbursements will be done in Euro (€) currency. The disbursements will be made within 15 days of approval of the complete financial reports by Youth Power.
  • No transfers of funds between budget lines to be allowed, unless pre-approved by Youth Power.

How to submit:

Applicants should complete the Youth Power Small Grants Application Form and submit it to Youth Power’s office (in hard copy or by e-mail) by the deadline. Applications should be prepared and submitted in English and be typed.

The deadline for this round of grant applications is Friday 15 March 2013, at 17:00. Applications received after the posted deadline will not be considered.
